Mikroravi OÜ has signed a mandatory liability insurance contract for healthcare service providers.
Insurer: PZU Insurance (AB “Lietuvos draudimas” Estonian branch)
Insurance period: 04.11.2024 – 03.11.2025
Insurance coverage:
- €3,000,000per insurance period
- €300,000per insured event
- €100,000per entitled person
Non-material damage coverage:
- €100,000per insured event
- €30,000per entitled person
Notification of an Insurance Event
The entitled person must notify the insurer in writing within 4 weeks from the date they become aware of the insured event.
If the entitled person is unable to meet this deadline due to health reasons or other valid grounds, the notification period will be extended accordingly.
A claim can be submitted via the PZU self-service portal: https://www.pzu.ee/iseteenindus/
First, identify yourself using ID card, Smart-ID, or Mobile-ID, then select “Report damage” and choose the “Medical error” category.
Fill in the required information in the claim form.
The claim must include:
- What happened and why the patient is dissatisfied
- A description of the healthcare service that caused the damage
- Names of the healthcare provider and professionals involved
- Where and when the service was provided
- The severity of the health damage as assessed by the patient
- Whether the service met the general medical standards and was provided with due diligence
- Additional costs incurred or the price of purchased medical aids
The insurer will contact the claimant after submission.
Statute of Limitations for Claims
Under the Healthcare Provider’s Mandatory Liability Insurance Act, a claim must be filed within 3 years from the time the entitled person became aware of the healthcare provider’s breach of duty and the damage incurred.
However, no claim can be made more than 10 years after the insured event occurred.
